Memorial Day weekend is time for BBQs, friends, family and of most importantly - skiing.
This is it folks, the last weekend of lift access
skiing, get it while you can. Unfortunately, we haven't had a
true freeze in almost a week which has taken a bit from the snow
quality. Lows this week never even dipped below 40 degrees.
Even so, the mountain is very smooth and although the spring corn is
far from perfect it is still very skiable. We are still finding
high quality corn on the northern aspects, especially in the
shade. Even the southern aspects are skiing well as long as they
have being getting skied, and that top layer has been scraped
away.
However, with two days left to ski lifts, mother
nature has finally decided to cooperate. Today there was some
considerable cloud cover and looming thunderclouds. Additionally,
we had a bit of a wind event. These factors kept the temps down
during the day and now that it has cleared up the temperatures are
tumbling. We should get a real freeze both tonight and tomorrow
leaving us with some excellent spring skiing conditions to close out
the season.
